Coat and sleeping bag in one with ZZZN SLEEP APPAREL SYSTEM
ZZZN SLEEP APPAREL SYSTEM is a coat that doubles as a sleeping bag so users can sleep anywhere and anytime. It uses biometric data monitoring as well as headphones that play two types of music with frequency bands to help people fall asleep. The ZZZN coat slash sleeping bag modernizes Yagi, which is a traditional Japanese winter or nightwear. The apparel has drawstrings on the sleeves and hem, all adjustable to fit the user’s body type. The wearer can also adjust the cuff tabs to their fit, making sure that they’re comfortable when they’re about to sleep.
The ZZZN coat and sleeping bag uses photoelectric fiber as its padding. With this in mind, the sleepwear is lighter than it looks. It also keeps the internal temperature warm for the users, especially during cold and extreme weather conditions. The ZZZN SLEEP APPAREL SYSTEM team will host a trial session for their coat slash sleeping bag on February 7th, 2025, in Frame Gallery YSJ Building B1 in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan. After that, the sleepwear makes its public debut during Expo 2025 Osaka, which runs from April 13th, 2025, through October 13th, 2025.

Wearable ring monitors the user’s sleep state and heart rate
The ZZZN SLEEP APPAREL SYSTEM coat slash sleeping bag includes the SOXAI ring. It’s a wearable device that monitors the user’s sleep state, stress level, heart rate, and other biometric data. It connects to their smartphones using their app, so they can keep track of their sleep records for when they wake up after. The next is the pair of headphones, built into the headpiece of the sleepwear. It plays music with frequency bands, similar to binaural beats, which is believed to help people fall asleep. For the ZZZN coat and sleeping bag, the design team raises the position so they can block out the external noises and let the users go into a state of deep relaxation.
Now comes the red lighting. The design team plants it on top of the headpiece, just above the forehead of the user. It comes with wires, which are hidden in the left exterior pocket of the ZZZN coat slash sleeping bag. The design team believes red is close to the color of the sunset, which is ideal for falling asleep. The wearer can even feel the flickering rhythm of the wearable technology, which can aid with their sleep. When they wake up, the device plays soothing music. After that, the light transitions from red to blue to help the users get up slowly and not abruptly.

‘Neck pillow’ so users can sleep while they’re sitting
Users can also change the ‘mode’ of the ZZZN SLEEP APPAREL SYSTEM coat slash sleeping bag. First, there’s a headpiece that users wear like a helmet, then the hood for extra coverage. Since both of them are adjustable, these also modulate their temperature and even sleeping state (the red lighting is on top of the headpiece). The hood is removable as well, and an air pack collar surrounds it. It’s similar to a neck pillow, so users can also sleep while sitting.
In this way, the added cushioning can support the user’s neck and their posture as they sleep. So far, the ZZZN SLEEP APPAREL SYSTEM team introduces the coat slash sleeping bag in a light blue color. They will first host a trial session so the public can experience how it works in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan on February 7th. The next leg of the unveiling tour is at Expo 2025 Osaka, between April 13th, 2025 and October 13th, 2025.
