Architecture Venice Biennale 2025 preview
During the press conference held on February 11th, 2025, at the headquarters of the Venice Biennale in San Marco, the president of La Biennale di Venezia, Pietrangelo Buttafuoco, together with the curator Carlo Ratti unveiled details about the 19th Venice Architecture Biennale. Themed Intelligens. Natural. Artificial. Collective, the 2025 Architecture Biennale is set to run from May 10 to November 23, 2025, unfolding across, the Arsenale, and multiple venues within Venice. This year, the international pavilion in the Giardini will not be able to host the exhibition, so in turn, the curator will turn the city into a Living Lab. In addition, the 2025 edition of the Biennale will feature 66 national participations, an increase from 64 in 2023. Meanwhile, four nations—the Republic of Azerbaijan, Togo, Qatar, and Oman—will participate for the first time, marking a significant expansion of the Biennale’s global reach.
Organized by La Biennale di Venezia, this edition delves into the concept of intelligence in architecture. The exhibition investigates how architecture interacts with disciplines such as biology, data science, engineering, and planetary sciences, shedding light on the materiality of urban spaces and their influence on our shared future.
