Freia Restaurant Blends Urban Dining with a Rooftop Greenhouse
Raum architectural studio has designed Freia, a gourmet restaurant situated atop a multi-story car park in Nantes, France. The project integrates an urban garden within a greenhouse structure, establishing a connection between nature and the city.
Positioned six floors above ground, the restaurant offers panoramic views of Nantes and its historic railway station. The greenhouse enclosure allows for natural light to shape the dining experience while reinforcing the relationship between built space and vegetation. The garden, both inside and outside the restaurant, serves as a source of fresh ingredients used in the kitchen, blurring the boundaries between cultivation, preparation, and dining.
