teamLab’s art space merges technology and natural phenomena
The teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi will reach completion and open to the public in April within the Saadiyat Cultural District. The Department of Culture and Tourism—Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), in collaboration with Miral, the leading creator of immersive destinations and experiences, and art collective teamLab, has announced the opening of teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi on 18 April 2025. The 17,000 sqm venue, operated by Miral Experiences, will feature large-scale, interactive installations designed to evolve dynamically through environmental factors such as light, air, and water. The exhibits engage sight, sound, and touch, encouraging guests to expand the way they feel, connect, and interact with the world around them.
The project aligns with teamLab’s concept of ‘Environmental Phenomena,’ where artworks are not static but emerge as part of their surroundings, creating an ever-changing, multi-sensory experience. These unconventional installations do not exist independently but are created as a response to external conditions, ensuring no two visits are identical. The art venue’s structure, conceived as a ‘home to infinite curiosity,’ conceptualized by teamLab Architects and realized in collaboration with Abu Dhabi-based MZ Architects, is designed to facilitate these evolving interactions.

experiential art space Expands Abu Dhabi’s Cultural Landscape
Conceived by the Tokyo-based art collective teamLab, the art venue will serve as a permanent space for experimental, immersive installations, encouraging visitors to engage with art as a fluid and responsive phenomenon rather than a fixed entity. By integrating digital media, natural elements, and interactive environments, the project redefines the boundaries of artistic creation and human perception.
HE Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of DCT Abu Dhabi, emphasized the Saadiyat Cultural District’s role in fostering cultural exchange and new artistic expressions, positioning teamLab Phenomena as a significant addition to the region’s artistic landscape. The initiative aims to inspire creative exploration at the intersection of art, science, and technology, supporting Abu Dhabi’s broader vision for cultural innovation.
