Renatus Clinic by SESN creates a holistic sensory experience
Renatus Clinic’s store design by SESN focuses on creating a beauty clinic in Nagoya that transcends traditional aesthetics curating a sensory experience. The spatial design incorporates a circular flow, guiding clients from the reception area to the examination and treatment rooms, and back to reception. This journey is enhanced by carefully calibrated lighting. Downlights and indirect lighting shift in color temperature and brightness—from daylight tones to warm bulb hues—evoking natural phenomena like morning glow and evening twilight.

sensory-focused clinic introduces Carefully calibrated lighting
SESN studio, led by Kiyoshi Miyagawa, aimed to create a space where illuminated and shadowed areas coexist, producing a landscape that feels natural yet subtly transforms. This ambiguity blurs boundaries, allowing the environment to resonate as both sensation and perception, akin to the transient beauty of natural phenomena.
To unify the space, a consistent base color was used, while the lighting’s temperature variations create a delicate gradation of hues. This approach fosters an environment where clients can reflect on diverse values and affirm their individuality. By aligning the clinic’s ethos with its spatial design, the project achieves a harmonious connection between the beauty clinic experience and the physical space.
